Free · Mood & calm · English, Hindi and Hinglish

Every feeling is a wave. Let it rise. Let it pass.

Tarang is a free, calm place to notice how you are actually doing, and to do one small thing about it. Name what you feel in two taps, breathe with the tide, play music matched to your mood, and keep Moti, a baby sea turtle who swims a little further each time you look after yourself. No account, and what you write stays on your phone.

Help in two taps

Tele-MANAS 14416, from anywhere

Three steps

Thirty seconds, two taps

There is nothing to set up and nothing to keep up with. Open it when you need it, and leave it when you don’t.

See what is inside
  1. Meet Moti

Name your sea turtle, pick English, Hindi or Hinglish, and, if you want one, choose a time for one quiet reminder a day. No sign-up.

  2. Log your mood

Two taps: the weather inside, then the closest word. Tarang suggests one small next step, and music to match.

  3. Do one small thing

Breathe, rest or listen. Then say whether you feel calmer, the same or worse. Worse opens Support, with people who listen.

What it does

A mood log, a breathing coach and a safe harbour in one

Everything works offline, in English, Hindi and Hinglish, and everything you write stays on your phone.

Name what you feel

Pick the weather inside — Stormy, Sunny, Grey skies or Calm waters — then the word that fits, or skip it. Tag what it is connected to if you like: work, studies, family, sleep, health, money, friends or yourself.

One next step that learns

After each mood log, one small thing to do: a breath, a body scan, a tiny task or a message to someone. Tell it afterwards whether you feel calmer, the same or worse, and it learns what helps you after which weather.

Breathe with the tide

Tide breath, cyclic sigh, box, 4-7-8, coherent and long-exhale breathing, with a voice and gentle cue tones. Guided sessions — surfing an urge, a body scan by the sea, a sleep story about a lighthouse keeper — and an opt-in tradition layer with Yoga Nidra and Bhramari. Every practice shows its evidence.

Music for every mood

Ten moods, from stressed to at peace, each with music to match: bansuri, santoor, tanpura, singing bowls, rain and the sea, generated so it never plays the same twice. Fifteen soundscapes for sleep and focus, with a timer that fades out. It keeps playing when you leave the screen.

Your journey

A month of your weather at a glance, a 7- and 30-day mood tracker with the music that left you calmer, gentle patterns after ten or more mood logs — never diagnoses — and a monthly WHO-5 wellbeing check. Export a summary to share with a counsellor.

A safe harbour

Tele-MANAS 14416 and 112 in two taps from anywhere, with other free helplines saved in the app. A 5-4-3-2-1 grounding exercise, a safety plan in your own words, a note written for you each day, and your trusted people one tap away on WhatsApp or SMS.

Straight about care

Tele-MANAS, India’s free government mental-health helpline, is two taps from anywhere in Tarang, in twenty languages, and you can stay anonymous. It works with no account and no internet, and nothing about it will ever be behind a paywall.

Tarang is a self-care companion, not a medical service. In danger right now? Call 112.

FAQs

Straight answers

What people ask before they trust an app with how they feel.

Do I need an account or an internet connection?

No. There is no sign-up, and mood logs, breathing, music, the helplines and everything you write all work offline. When there is a connection the app fetches its settings and, unless you switch them off, sends usage counts and crash reports to Google, as described in the privacy policy.

Who can see what I write?

Only you. Mood logs, notes, your safety plan and your harbour are stored on your phone and never uploaded. There is no copy on a server, ours or anyone else’s.

Is Tarang therapy?

No. It is a self-care companion, not a medical service, and it never diagnoses. If you are struggling, Tele-MANAS (14416) is free, open 24×7 and in many Indian languages; Support has it two taps from anywhere. In danger right now, call 112.

Which languages does it speak?

English, Hindi and Hinglish, switchable at any time in Settings. Guided sessions are spoken by your phone’s own voice; Hinglish shows Roman captions and speaks the Hindi line.

Where does the music come from?

It is generated and bundled with the app — bansuri, santoor, tanpura, bowls, rain and the sea, layered so it never plays the same twice. Nothing is streamed, so it works offline and costs no data.

Can I keep it private on my phone?

Yes. Discreet mode shows only “Your 9:00 pm nudge”, with your chosen time, on the lock screen, and the Quiet widget opens the app with no name and no number on it.

How do I delete my data?

Settings → Delete everything erases it from your phone at once. Uninstalling does the same. There is nothing of yours on our side to delete.

Is it free?

Yes. There is no subscription, no paywall and no account.

Let it rise. Let it pass.

Free. No account, works offline, and what you write stays on your phone.
